February's Five to Thrive
Hey - we made it through a terribly cold month. But it was beautiful! Here we had so much snow coverage and it’s the first winter I haven’t found myself sick of by now. I’ve always believed if it’s going to be cold, it ought to be pretty. And we definitely have had a beautiful winter scape this past month.
Each month I’m dropping in with a hello and a brief list of five things that have helped me thrive.

Ashwaganda Root Tea
I was grocery shopping hungry, never a good idea. But I stumbled down the tea aisle and found this gem. I found this kind by Organic India and have been loving it with a spoonful of our favorite Tulip Tree Honey. Sipping hot tea with honey as I wind down in the evening has been lovely. Combine it with a good book and you’re golden. Right now I’m alternating between Parenting and Real Faith in the Real God in the Real World. Absolutely LOVING both!
No social media
Okay, not completely zero. I have found some fantastic deals on Facebook Marketplace this month! But - I have been rarely ever opening Instagram, and choosing to not scroll or fill empty moments with social media. Y’all, it’s been so freeing! I’m finding such contentment. I’m finally writing again and having my own creative thoughts. Highly recommend, 10/10.
Educational Games
My little man has some focus fatigue at the moment, so we’ve played basketball where each basket it worth 2 or 5 points (practice counting by 2’s and 5’s), and Chutes and Ladders, Cars Monopoly, Pickles to Penguins, Puzzles, and Code and Go Robot Mouse also get him moving and thinking without realizing he’s practicing useful skills.
Lofi Mixes on YouTube
I’ve been turning these chill jams on as I wind down. I make the room all cozy, start the diffuser, switch to soft lit lamps, turn on the heater and take some deep breaths. It’s been a whole vibe.
Walkie Talkies
We were gifted these walkie talkies for Christmas and man, they’ve been great! Anytime JD went out to hunt (rabbit and squirrel season run until the end of Feb) he’d take a walkie talkie (with an ear piece) and J would keep a lookout from the house and check in to see how the hunt was going. It helped make an activity that was done separately feel more like a whole family activity.
